Chapter Twelve: Onomatopoeia
It took me a minute to memorize how to spell it, but it's worth it. Such a nice word.
Onomatopoeia is (this is the literal definition from dictionary dot com): 'the formation of a word, as cuckoo or boom, by imitation of a sound made by or associated with its referent.'
For example, 'Pocky' is onomatopoeia of the sound that it makes when you bite into it. That's how it got its name (according to a certain worksheet for a certain field trip to a certain place with really good food).
The usage of onomatopoeia can be extremely annoying in certain context. Do NOT start a story with it. In my opinion, that's just dumb. Although it's okay to use it sparingly, don't overuse it, because it gets annoying, fast.
For example:
Boom boom
Scar exploded a building. "EEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!" screamed the people inside. A cuckoo clock rang.
Cuckoo, cuckoo
Meanwhile, back at the ranch (aka, Resembool)
Ding dong
The doorbell rang (because the ding dong isn't hint enough of what's happening). Tap, tap, tap. Winry walked over and answered the door.
"Woof, woof!" barked Den.
Clank, clank Al's armor was loud.
"Hi," said Ed.
"Hi," said Winry.
The End
It sounds like a picture book, doesn't it? No, worse. It sounds like a board book.
So, again, use it sparingly. If you have any questions, or would like a pamphlet that outlines the proper technique used to memorize how to spell onomatopoeia, please leave a review.
Bye for now!

PS- The only good book that uses lots of onomatopoeia is 'Click clack moo, Cows that type' and all related books. *nods*
